Crews tackle fire at Somerset recycling landfill site

FIRE crews dealt with a blaze at a Somerset landfill recycling plant last night (October 15). Firefighters from Taunton, Bridgwater and Burnham on Sea were sent to the facility, at Pawlett, near Bridgwater, at just after 9.45pm. “On arrival crews confirmed that this fire consisted of 20m x 20m of waste well alight,” said a Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson. The fire was dealt with using 2 x Foam jets, 2 x Gas detection monitors and a Thermal Image Camera. “The cause of the fire was accidental and the incident was handed over to on site staff,” the spokesperson added.
